We then had our S.T.E.M. challenge building Pumpkin Catapults. One of our Catapults reached a 500 inch throw!   After that, we continued our research rough drafts.

Today 4th grade had such a fun day!!! Today, we worked on a project called Phone Home.  In this activity we learned about how uncomfortable it was to build something with just a voice instructing you on what to build. Just like the astronauts in the 1960's with Mission Control.  This activity thought me how frustrating it was if you were an astronaut in space and could only hear how to build something to save your life over the phone. We continued our Planet Research with Can you Planer? But, we also started a new activity which was called the Space Station Project. In this activity we had to choose a nearby planet to study and where to build our Space Stations. We also completed our ten note cards on state research for our Flip Books and PowerPoint. Told you we had such a good day!!!!!!

Wow! What a busy day. The first thing we did, was waker upper. Today the waker upper we did was this really cool silly letters template.  We had to listen to Mrs. Bergfeld give us directions about what to do in the tiny boxes. Then, we did logic #54 which you had to do number combinations to figure it out. After that, we did chess and it was pretty hard today because we had to move a lot of different pieces, but then we found that the answer was pawn to G3. We did the Midwest region Great States Challenge to get our ice cream for our tasty sundae. Next, we did our research today we had to complete 10 note cards. Lastly, we did a solar system type activity that was about planet that have rings and moons and then we had to compare them. The last thing that we did today was complete our name signs so we could do something like this....

Wow! What a busy couple of weeks at Gifted! Each week we start with our Waker Upper (Play by the Rules) where we must listen carefully to directions and draw what we hear. Then, we always move on to our Logic and Chess problems. After we finish, we practice playing Chess. We have started our Independent Research Study. This week we started our notecards and learned how to use an Encyclopedia. It was much harder than Google!  We also checked out books on our states and countries to continue our notecards next week.  We finished our Eric Carle Author Study Class book. Last week we painted the artwork and this week we wrote a poem to add to our page. We titled our class book "Where are the animals?"  Come check it out at Open House!
